Obituary

Edmond Chester Jenkins, Jr, died September 27, 2014 in Vero Beach, FL. Edmond was born in Winthrop, New York on December 21, 1929, he was 84 years old.

In 1951 he entered the Army and completed an overseas tour during the Korean War. Returning home, he enrolled in the State University of New York in Canton, NY and earned his degree in hotel management from the business department. There, he met his future wife, Janice Barbara Wolfe. They were married in Whitehall, NY on June 11, 1955 and were married 59 years.

In 1956 they welcomed their first daughter, Rebecca Lynn, and in 1960, their second daughter was born, Barbara Lorayne.

Edmond worked for Eastern Airlines and Mohawk Airlines. Then he managed several hotels and motels. Eventually, he bought his own small motel in Elbridge, NY and later sold it to purchase another small motel in Front Royal, VA where they lived until 1978.

Ed's devout hatred of cold weather and especially snow, prompted a move to the warmer climate of Florida and they moved to Vero Beach. Their oldest daughter and her husband soon followed, to be with the whole family.

Ed enjoyed fishing on the river, reading the scandal sheets, shortwave radios, big cars, spaghetti, chili dogs, pepsi, big belt buckles, monkeys, and arts and crafts. He spent a lot of time in his workshop making clocks, Christmas items, and what-nots. He had a wonderful sense of humor that got him in trouble more that once.

Ed was predeceased by his father and mother, Edmond Chester Sr and Mildred, and his brother, Porter.

He will forever be in the hearts of his surviving family: wife, Janice, daughters/husbands, Becky and Keith, and Barbara and Bill, and his one Grandson, Wesley Edmond.
