Edward Chapman, 88, of Vero Beach, Florida, died Monday, July 29, 2013 at Indian River Medical Center.
He was born November 28, 1924 in Waterville, Connecticut and had been a resident of the Treasure Coast since 1985, coming from Kingston, NY.
Mr. Chapman was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served during WWII aboard the USS Ranger in the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters.
He retired as construction and distribution manager in 1980 after 34 years of service with the New York Telephone Company.
Mr. Chapman was a member of Community Church, Vero Beach. He was a former member of the Vero Beach Elks Lodge and the VFW Post #8058, Ft. Pierce.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty Jo Chapman of Vero Beach; son, Mark S. (Joanne) Chapman of Hurley, NY; aunt, Edith Seitz of Westport, CT and three grandchildren, Jesse Travis, Kalli Catherine and Casey Elizabeth Chapman.
He was predeceased by his son, Gary E. Chapman and brother, Seymour J. Chapman.
Services and inurnment will take place in Kingston, NY at a later date.
