IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edward W.
Elliott
June 6, 1933 – September 18, 2025
EDWARD W. ELLIOTT
1933-2025
Edward W. Elliott, Vero Beach, passed away after a brief illness on September 18, 2025, at age 92. He was born June 6, 1933 to Carl A. and Louisa Vann Elliott. He lived his entire life in Vero Beach, graduating from high school in 1951. He attended the University of Florida, returned to Vero and worked in his father's business, Elliott Sign Co. He married Ruth Johnson in 1956 and then became a journeyman electrician, working in the trade for 30 years. Being ambitious and hard-working, he took on another job in his "spare" time — citrus grower. With help from his brother-in-law ,Johnny Johnson, and his wife Ruth, they personally developed and cared for numerous citrus groves.
While raising three children and having two jobs, Ed still found time to continue his favorite boyhood hobbies of hunting and fishing, even including his family some of the time! His interests expanded into traveling – family vacations to the Smoky Mountains, Yellowstone, and Glacier National Park were the highlights of the kids' childhoods.
Ed was a skilled, self-taught, woodworker, carpenter and fabricator – adding an addition to his home and assisting during the construction of Grace Lutheran Church's new sanctuary, where he was a member. He was always looking forward to his next project, big or small. With a little pressure from his wife, Ed and Ruth cruised the Caribbean, visited San Francisco, and the Pacific Coast.
After his wife of 35 years, Ruth, passed away, Ed found another companion, Inez Butler. In their 18 years of marriage, they traveled extensively —visiting Alaska and most of the western states. He bought a second home in Colorado, which they enjoyed until Inez passed in 2013.
During all of these years, Ed enjoyed multiple hunting trips out West with his hunting buddies as well as countless hours at his Florida hunting camp. He (along with his brothers and numerous friends) enjoyed fishing any and all bodies of water -– rivers, lakes, inlets, and offshore.
Myrna Partenza came into Ed's life in 2016 and they married in 2018. After remodeling her condo they cruised the Northeast coast, explored the Southwest and also spent much time in Maryland with Myrna's family, Chris and Becky Partenza and their children. Being more homebound in the last three years of his life Ed took up his boyhood love of painting and drawing and enjoyed afternoons watching the wildlife on the River. He was even able to continue successfully fishing the River from his backyard! Myrna was a devoted and caring wife until the very end.
Ed can be best described as hard-working with a generous heart and an avid outdoorsman with an adventurous spirit and a daredevil attitude. His family and friends will miss his wry sense of humor and numerous tales of his travels and experiences. He has now taken his last journey to his heavenly home, where we know we will meet him again in eternity.
Ed is survived by his three children, Sharon (Andy) Pike of Vero Beach, Scott (Jan) Elliott of Jupiter, and Beth Keith of Jacksonville; his grandchildren Jennifer, Kristen, Austin, Kyle, Lauren and Katie and great-grandchildren, Garrett, Chloe, Cody, Harper and Ireland. He is also survived by his sister, Sue Bernardy of Acworth, Georgia and his sister-in-law, Charlotte Johnson of Vero Beach. He was predeceased by his brothers, Carl and Vann Elliott.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 4 at 11 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, with visitation proceeding the service at 10 AM.
