January 10, 1937 – May 28, 2022
Edward Philip Evans, Sr., Vero Beach, Florida went to the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 28, 2022. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, January 10, 1937 to Phillip Richard Evans and Katherine Irene Wilt. He attended Germantown High School. Survived by his loving companion Beverly Ann Capellen who was by his side until the end.
He is survived by his first wife Barbara Walters (Bowling), children: Richard (Penny) Evans, Ronald (Linda) Evans, Gary Evans. Grandchildren: Paige Evans, Richelle Piscopo, Richard Evans, Jr.; Scott Evans, Timothy Evans, Mathew Evans.
Preceded in death by his second wife Rosa Ana Ristine, survived by son Edward P. Evans, Jr. (Christine). Grandchildren: Benjamin O. Evans, Catherine I. Evans.
Edward was an active member of the Lu Lu Shriner's International of Philadelphia and a 54 year 32nd Degree Freemason of the William Penn Harmony Lodge #52 of Philadelphia. Both of these organizations promoted the brotherhood of men of great character, compassion and strong values who are committed to family, fellowship and making the world a better place through volunteering and philanthropy.
Edward was an adventurer. At the age of 62, he learned how to ride a motorcycle and never looked back. During his retirement years, he rode 90,000 miles on his brand new Yamaha Royal Star, cruising around his beloved America, camping along the way at all the National Parks and State parks he could find. He often spoke about all the interesting people he encountered along the way and reminisced often about swimming with the fish in the annual salmon migration in the Pacific Northwest.
An avid conversationalist, history and trivia buff, Edward loved reading history, playing Jeopardy and conversing with anyone who would listen!
His love for classical and opera music was a lifelong passion that was inspired by an 8th grade teacher while attending a Lutheran orphanage, Edward attended numerous performances at the Philadelphia Academy of Music that instilled his musical passion.
Edward was also an avid lifelong dancer – ballroom, foxtrot, tango, swing, country/western, line, salsa, meringue, he danced them all! He frequently attended dances 2 to 3 times per week with his love and dance partner, Beverly Ann Capellen but was always eager to dance with as many of the ladies as he could!
