Eleanor K. Adamkiewicz (Adams) died on October 18, 2015 at Palm Garden Health and Rehabilitation Center of Vero Beach. She was born on December 21, 1918 in Amsterdam, NY, the daughter of the late Simon and Mary Dybas Kosiba and was the last survivor of 12 siblings. She was educated in the Amsterdam schools and was a graduate of the Amsterdam School of Commerce. Eleanor retired in 1981 from the New York State Department of Labor and was previously employed at Mohasco Industries. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church and its choir, of which she was a member for 70 years; the Rosary Society and the St. Stanislaus Seniors. She was also a member of the Horace Inman Center, their senior choir and Creative Crafters. Eleanor loved music, sewing and crafts.
In June 2012, Eleanor moved from Amsterdam to Vero Beach, Florida. At that time, she became a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach.
Eleanor married Ted Adamkiewicz (Adams) in 1940. He predeceased her on November 15, 1999. Survivors include one son, David T. Adams of Mechanicville, NY; one daughter, Donna M. Johnson (and husband Bob) of North Hutchinson Island, Florida; one grandson Mark A. Johnson of New York City; three granddaughters, Dr. Laura Johnson (and husband Steven Beare) of Vero Beach, FL; Autumn White (and husband Bill) of Ballston Lake, NY; and Susanna Adams of Malta, NY. She is also survived by two great-grandsons, Alexander and Tyler Beare and four great-granddaughters, Katelyn Beare, Ava and Mya Fenlon and Aria White and several nieces and nephews.
Eleanor was a true lady who gained the highest respect by all who knew her and was well known for her grace and compassion. Eleanor was loved by everyone she met and was extremely devoted to her family and many lifelong friends, many of whom predeceased her and are there to welcome this strong beautiful soul into Heaven, which will now ring with laughter and song.
A private family service and burial will take place at a later date in Amsterdam, NY.
