IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elizabeth Mae
"Betty" Lewis
October 10, 1937 – December 6, 2022
Elizabeth (Betty Snyder) Lewis of Vero Beach, FL (formerly Apalachin, NY) was called to Heaven to join her guardian angels on December 6, 2022. Betty cherished the life God gave her as a friend, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Betty graduated from Binghamton Central High School in 1955 and attended Ridley Lowell Business School. She accepted a position with IBM and later retired from IBM Federal Systems Division, Owego, NY as a Program Office Specialist. After retirement in 1991 Betty and her husband Bob became snowbirds when they moved to Vero Beach, FL to spend the winter months with friends and in Apalachin for the summer months with family. Also, during these summer months Betty and Bob spent many days playing golf at the Apalachin Golf Course where she was proud of the titles of Ladies Club Champion and Senior Ladies Champion she held for many years.
She was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart Bob, (who became her husband of 51 years), her granddaughters Erin Lewis and Amanda Alvarez, and brother Robert Snyder. Betty is survived by her son Kevin (Brenda) Lewis, Sebastian, FL, daughters Kathleen (Jimmy) Alvarez, Apalachin, NY and Kari Lynn (Edward) Reilly, Apalachin, NY. Also, grandchildren Robert and Eric (Raelynn) Reilly, Katie Lewis, Maria Alvarez, Nicole (Justin) Commane, and great grandchildren Eli, Cillian, Finn, Ezekiel, Adrian, Reina and Gwendolyn. She is also survived by a sister, Sally Hurban, and brothers, Richard Snyder, Donald (Linda) Snyder, John Snyder, and James (Brenda) Snyder.
Betty and Bob loved fishing the Indian River on their boat with the Banfields, also surf fishing, their yearly cruises, and playing golf with wonderful friends on their many group golf outings.
Betty and her family would like to give a very special thank you to her grandson Robert Reilly who moved from New York to her home in Vero Beach to help her when there was a health need. The family would also especially thank Kevin & Brenda Lewis for moving Betty to their home under the care of Hospice.
Betty has requested that there be no celebrations of life or services. Contributions in memory of Betty may be made to the organization of choice.
