Obituary

Elizabeth "Liz" Peterson, 74, of Vero Beach, passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach. Mrs. Peterson was born October 2, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY. She had been a resident of Vero Beach since 1984, coming from New York. Prior to her retirement she drove a school bus in the Sachem School District in New York for twenty years. Also, she was a real estate sales associate for over ten years. She was the past treasurer of the Villa Mar Condo Association in Vero Beach; and a past board member of the Crestwood Lane Civic Organization in Long Island, NY. She was of the Catholic faith and attended Saint Helen Catholic Church. She taught atechism School for twelve years at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Long Island. Survivors include her daughters, Patricia Peterson-Harrold of Endicott, NY, Debra Ann LaRosa of Palm Bay, Nancy Jean Peterson of Palm Bay; brother, Edward W. Finn of Vero Beach; sister, Mary Ann Degaynor of Long Island, NY; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-seven years, George Peterson and her sister, Anastasia Flemming. Services: A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2013, and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, February 15, 2013 at the Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory in Vero Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 15, 2013 at Saint Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Vero Beach Police Department Foundation at Police Benevolent Society attn: Brian Kerensky 1050 20th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
