Ervin E. Woods, 99, of Vero Beach, died Wednesday, January 16, 2019.  He was born in Waterman, Illinois on February 2, 1919.  A graduate of Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Illinois, he served as an officer in the US Army from 1942 to 1945.  Ervin Woods married Sheila Penniall in 1946; they raised seven children, and celebrated their 68 ^th wedding anniversary prior to her death in 2014.  Ervin worked for the State of Illinois until his retirement in 1989 when he moved to Vero Beach.  He was a past commander of Wheaton Lodge No 269, A.F. & A.M.  He was active throughout his life in the Methodist Church, and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Vero Beach.

Ervin is survived by his children John (Marsha) Woods, Doris "Dori" Roy, and Amy Woods of Vero Beach; David (Nancy) Woods, Sycamore, Illinois; Diane (Peter) Malmgren, Waterman, Illinois, Andrew (Laura) Woods, Winfield, Illinois; 7 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Sheila, and his daughter, Melissa.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 20 ^th from 4 – 6 p.m. at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home.  A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 21 ^st at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Vero Beach.  Interment will be in Waterman, Illinois on February 12 ^th .
