Obit: Ethel May Hammill Penland

Ethel May Hammill Penland, 85, of Pembroke Pines, FL died Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at her home.

Mrs. Penland was born January 25, 1926 in Vero Beach, FL where she resided until 1964, moving to West Virginia.

She was the Salutatorian of the Vero Beach High School graduating Class of 1943. She had been a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church Parish in Hollywood, FL.

Survivors include her husband Norris Penland of Pembroke Pines, FL; two daughters Mary Cecile Penland of Boulder, CO and Helen Therese Penland of Coconut Creek, FL; and a sister Billie Hammill of Vero Beach.

Service: The family will receive friends 1-3 PM, Sunday at the Scarano Funeral Home in Pembroke Pines and Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM, Monday, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. On Tuesday, November 8, 2011 the family will receive friends 10-11 AM at the Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach with a prayer service at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach.
