Eugene Nicholas DeMaio, 85, of Vero Beach died Monday, May 14, 2012 at the Indian River Medical Center.
Mr. DeMaio was born September 7, 1926 in Wildwood, NJ. He had been a resident of Vero Beach for 26 years, coming from Bethpage, NY.
He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was stationed in the Pacific Theater and transferred troops during the invasions of Okinawa and Guam.
Prior to his retirement he worked as a clerk for the United States Postal Service for 25 years in Westbury, NY.
He was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather to his wife of 62 years Lucille DeMaio; daughters Diane Armstrong of Emerson, NJ and Jean DeMaio-Hefetz of Saint James, NY; grand children Zachary, Haley, Kody and Victor. He is also survived by his brother Robert DeMaio of Setauket, NY.
Memorial contributions may be made to the VAMC West Palm Beach Voluntary/Recreation Therapy Service at VA Medical Center located at 7305 N Military Trail West Palm Beach, FL 33410.
A memorial service will be held in June in New York.
