Eugene A. Oathout, 81, of Vero Beach, FL, passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, FL.

Mr. Oathout was born in Iowa City, IA and moved to Vero Beach, FL 48 years ago, coming from Coralville, IA.

He attended First Baptist Church in Vero Beach, FL He was a commercial and residential real estate broker in Vero Beach for the past 40 years. He was a member of the Vero Beach Rotary Club and the Indian River County Realtor association.

He was the former owner of La Posada Motel in Vero Beach, FL.

He served in the United States Air Force and was a graduate from University of Iowa.

Survivors include his companion Patricia Haber of Vero Beach, FL; two sons David Oathout of Seattle, WA and John Oathout of Tulsa, OK; brother Ronald Oathout and wife of Las Vegas, NV; Five grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home & Crematory. A burial will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 11-1pm.
