Obituary

Eunice Lynette (Brooks) James died February 10, 2018.  She was born August 12, 1924, in Black Mountain, NC, and was the last survivor of four brothers and three sisters.  Eunice was a homemaker who resided in Indian River County for more than fifty years.  She and her husband, Herbert James, Jr., were part of the citrus industry and affiliated with Graves Brothers Groves.

Eunice was widowed at the age of 20 in 1944 when her first husband was killed in World War II.  2 nd Lt. Fred Gordon Fowler was a fighter pilot in the Army Air Corps.

Eunice and Herb James were married 62 years until his death in 2010.  Her passion in life was loving her family and her friends.  It was her joy always to be there for them, especially her grandchildren.  First United Methodist Church was very important to her and being part of its ministries expressed her love for God's people.

In addition to her siblings and her husbands, Eunice was preceded in death by her daughter, Betty Lustig.  She is survived by her children: Lynette Armstrong, Cincinnati, OH; Brenda Davis (Mike Jacobs), Oakton, VA; H. Thomas James III (Maria), Vero Beach; and Norman James (Robyn), Dade City, FL; grandchildren  Joey Lustig, Jimmy Lustig, Heather Benson, Tommy James, Steven James, Sarah Bussen, Anna Kauderman, Lauren Davis, Scott Davis, Mark Davis; and ten .great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to honor Eunice's life Friday, February 16, 10:00 a.m., at Vero Beach First United Methodist Church, 1750 20 th Street, with Rev. Rebecca Oliver officiating.  Burial will follow in Crestlawn Cemetery.  Memorial remembrances may be made to her church.
