Florence Irene LaPlante died peacefully in Palm Gardens on November 11, 2016 in Vero Beach, Florida at the age of 92.
She is survived by her three children Carol A. LaPlante of Easthampton, Massachusetts; Linda J. (Richard) Graham of Fort Pierce, Florida; and Allen R. LaPlante of Warner, New Hampshire. She also is survived by three grandchildren Kevin (Maria) Graham; Michael (Johanna) Bailey and Kelly (Christopher) Strew; seven great-grandchildren as well as one great-great grandchild; and numerous nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her husband Leroy LaPlante, and siblings John C. Allen; Mortimer C. Allen; Ronald A. Allen; and Marion (Allen) Hickey.
She was born on May 30, 1924 in Berlin, Massachusetts the daughter of Walter J. and Ruth I. (Munyon) Allen. She was graduated from Hudson High School (Massachusetts) in 1942 and the David Hale Fanning Trade School for Girls in 1944 (Worcester, Massachusetts).
Florence enjoyed candle-pin bowling, genealogy, and rooting for the New York Yankees. She frequently served as a poll worker in Auburn, Massachusetts. She also donated blood frequently enough to earn her gallon pin. She was an active and dedicated member of the First Congregational Church (Auburn, Massachusetts) before moving to Vero Beach, Florida in 2005. She also lovingly served as a hospice volunteer for many years.
A memorial service will be held next year in Massachusetts at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made out to the VNA and Hospice Foundation (1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL, 32960). The family would like to thank the nurses, CNA's and staff at Palm Gardens of Vero Beach, and VNA Hospice for their excellent care and dedication.
