Floyd Knowles, 83, of Vero Beach, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at the VNA Hospice House. Mr. Knowles was born March 5, 1930 in Riviera Beach, FL. He had been a resident of Vero Beach since 1976, coming from Fort Lauderdale. Floyd served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for the Bellsouth Telephone Company for 46 years, and retired as a Senior Director. He attended Trinity Episcopal Church in Vero Beach, and was an avid fisherman. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Sarah "Gen" Knowles; children, Susan Sluth of West Palm Beach, FL; Brenda Southworth of Tampa, FL; Jennifer Knowles of Delray Beach, FL; Steven Schrenk of Long Branch, NJ; son-in-law, Robert Sluth; nieces, Diane Neilson Harriett Fass, Debra Pumphrey and Maria Barone; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shirley Schrenk. Private family services will be held.
