Frances Leigh Shoemaker, 80, of Vero Beach passed away on March 16, 2013. Born October 3, 1932 in Chesapeake, Va., she was the daughter of George W. and Frances Womble Ridgwell. She was a resident of Virginia Beach, Va. until her retirement to Florida in 1996.

Her career as a property manager in Virginia and Vero Beach spanned thirty years. She was an active member of King's Baptist Church and was a member of the Jabez Sunday school class and numerous Bible studies. She gave many hours to the visitation ministry, visiting nursing and retirement homes in the community as well being active in the cancer support group at King's Baptist.

Leigh was predeceased by her husband G. Clayton Shoemaker of Virginia Beach and by her sister Margaret Gibson and brother William D. Ridgwell, all of Virginia. She is survived by brother George Ridgwell and wife Janet of Virginia Beach. Also surviving her are sons Rick Shoemaker and wife Laurie of Vero Beach, Craig Shoemaker and wife Teresa of Ft. Pierce and daughter Cindy Turner of Denver, Co. and stepchildren George Shoemaker and wife Abby of Port St. Lucie. Also by grandchildren Rich Shoemaker and Jon Shoemaker of Virginia Beach and Danielle Shoemaker and Christopher Shoemaker of Ft. Pierce and Justin Turner of Pensacola. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Kasie Leigh, James, Jesse and Liberty Lee Shoemaker, all of Virginia Beach.

A memorial service will be held at King's Baptist Church on Saturday, March 23rd at 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to King's Baptist Church at
3235 58th Ave, Vero Beach, FL 32966.
