IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frank Jakob
Birk
June 2, 1929 – December 23, 2024
Frank Jakob Birk
June 2, 1929 – December 23, 2024
Frank Jakob Birk, age 95, of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 23, 2024. He was born to Anton and Rose Birk on June 2, 1929 and was raised in Queens, NY. Frank's early years were marked by the loss of his older brother, Anthony, who passed away when Frank was only two months old.
On February 15, 1953, Frank married the love of his life, Elizabeth Voje, and together they raised three children: Steven, Patricia, and Kathleen. Frank's devotion to his family was immeasurable, and he was known for his selflessness and willingness to do anything for them. They moved to Florida in the early 1990's.
Frank's family continued to grow and bring him immense joy. He was a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His son Steven married Elizabeth, and they had two children: Michelle Elizabeth and Kristin Margaret. Michelle and her husband, Peter Dehaas, were blessed with three children: Emerson, Mason, and Brooklyn. Kristin, married to Matthew Hill, had three children: Matthew, Pierson, and Beckett. Frank's daughter Patricia tragically passed away in 1992, and he cherished her memory deeply. His youngest daughter, Kathleen (Kathie), shared a special bond with Frank and was lovingly supported by her partner in life, Cliff Gushen.
Frank's great-grandchildren were the light of his life. Known affectionately as "Charlie" to all of them, he took great joy in teaching them about the world of painting and music, nurturing their creative spirits with the same love and care he showed throughout his life.
Beyond his family, Frank was known for his passions and talents. He had a deep love for music, painting, bowling, and golf. He was also a connoisseur of cocktails, and his perfect Manhattans were legendary among those who knew him. Frank was well-loved by friends and family alike for his kindness, his sense of humor, and his ability to brighten any room.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Helen Catholic Church, Vero Beach. Prior to the Mass, the family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home.
Frank will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, joy, and family will live on forever in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know him.
Rest in peace, Frank (Charlie).
