Frank J. Handschur, 94, of Vero Beach, FL died Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.
Mr. Handschur was born March 15, 1914 in New York, NY and moved to Vero Beach in 1968 from Greenlawn, NY.
Prior to his retirement he had managed the Smithtown Lumber Co. in Smithtown, NY for 38 years and the Riomar Country Club in Vero Beach for 20 years. During retirement he worked at the Vista Plantation Golf Course. While living in New York, he was a member of the Smithtown Volunteer Fire Department and the Lions Club, serving for a while as District Governor.
Survivors include his sons Frank J. Handschur of Mercerville, NJ, Gordon Lind of Vero Beach and Louis Lindstadt of Vero Beach; daughter Barbara Handschur of Exton, PA; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Gertrude L. Handschur and a son Peter L. Handschur.
Services: A private interment service will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Ft. Pierce, FL at a later date.
