Frank Vaccaro peacefully went to our Lord on February 4th surrounded by his loving family after having courageously battled cancer for 2 years outliving a 9 month prognosis.
Frank was born in Manhattan, October 17, 1937 to Mary and Augustine Vaccaro. He attended Brooklyn Tech, and started working in the mailroom of Continental Grain Company (now Cargill), and worked his way up to Sr. Vice President, commodity trader after graduating from NYU night school. He left to form his own prosperous company, Buccalata Vaccaro. While living in Alpine New Jersey, Frank served for three terms as Councilman, Council President and Chairman of the Building Department. When he eventually retired, he moved to Florida. Here he found the love of his life and soul mate Cristine Schall. They were married in 2004 and Frank's close friend, the mayor of Alpine, served as his best man. Frank was an amazing influence and father figure to Caitlin for 11 years.
Frank was a confirmed member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church where he served on the vestry and various committees.
He is survived by his beloved wife Cristine, daughter Susan Vaccaro Guido (Robert) and grandsons Robert and Michael of Albany, NY and step-daughter Caitlin Schall.
A memorial service will be held at a later date as a Celebration of Frank's Life was held with Frank and his family in attendance. Memorial gifts may be given to St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church or to The Huntsman Cancer Institute.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home & Crematory. An online guestbook may be signed at www.coxgiffordseawinds.com.
