Ferdinand “Fred” Theodore Ruffino January 1, 1934 — April 4, 2026
Ferdinand “Fred” Theodore Ruffino, formerly of Yonkers, New York, and a longtime resident of Stuart, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026, in Vero Beach, Florida, where he had recently made his home. He was born on January 1, 1934, in Yonkers, New York, the beloved son of Vincent Ruffino and Josephine Gorsky.
Fred was one of four children and was predeceased by his siblings, Richard, Vincent, and Joan. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Ruffino-Davidson of Sebastian, Florida, her husband Ron, their sons Patrick & Sean and his niece, Denise Ruffino of Mount Vernon, New York, along with extended family and friends who will cherish his memory.
A gifted student and natural leader, Fred attended schools in Yonkers, where he distinguished himself as both Valedictorian and President of his senior class, graduating in 1951. He continued his education at the University of Connecticut in Stamford and later at Benjamin Franklin University in Washington, D.C., where he pursued studies in Finance and Accounting.
Fred proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Stationed in Washington, D.C., he worked in finance at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia—an experience that reflected his dedication, discipline, and strong sense of duty.
Following his military service, Fred built a successful and respected career in Information Systems, serving as a manager for numerous corporations. His professionalism, intellect, and work ethic left a lasting impression on colleagues and those who had the pleasure of working alongside him. He retired in 1999 and relocated to Stuart, Florida, where he enjoyed many fulfilling years before recently moving to Vero Beach.
Beyond his professional life, Fred had a deep appreciation for music and found great joy in attending Broadway shows. He was a man of quiet sophistication who loved to entertain, especially during the holidays.
Fred was a devoted member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Stuart, Florida, where he found both community and spiritual comfort, and was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 2100 SE Cove Road, Stuart, Florida 34997.
Fred will be remembered for his intelligence, integrity, and gentle spirit. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, accomplishment, and love.
