Garvin Rudolph Mitchell, age 83 of Okeechobee, died December 27, 2010 at the Hamrick Home. He has been a resident of Okeechobee for the past 12 years and was formerly of Palm Beach County. Mr. Mitchell served in World War II and was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Melinda Creech, and his three brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife of 64 years, Beatrice of Okeechobee, 3 sons: Steven Mitchell (Sue) of Boynton Beach, Burton Mitchell (Brenda) of Okeechobee, Carl Mitchell (Cindy) of Okeechobee, and daughter Alicia Mitchell of Okeechobee. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held January 8, 2010 at the Peace Lutheran Church at 1pm with Pastor John Hirst officiating.
