Gary Dean Wooge

Gary Dean Wooge, 77, died October 6, 2011.

He was born in Jeffers, Minnesota and was a resident of Fort Pierce for over 30 years.

He was raised in Park Rapids, MN when he joined the National Guard at age 16 and later enlisted in the US Army. Gary served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars and retired as a US Army Ranger, 1st Sergeant after 21 years of service and sacrifice.

He was a founding member of the Fort Pierce Jazz Society. His love for the ocean was enhanced when he learned to sail. He enjoyed attending many Native American Pow Wows. His commitment to community and friends will not be forgotten.

He is survived by his sister, Marvella Rowan and special niece Dixie Lee Phail both of Stuart. He was preceded in death by his wife Kay, parents "Bert" & Nellie Wooge and brothers Granville, Bert Jr. and Douglas.

A memorial service for Gary will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 5PM at Jetty Park on South Hutchinson Island. Please bring a chair if you'd like to sit.

The service will be guided by Reverand Janice of Fort Pierce Unity Church at the new seawall section on the west end of Jetty Park.
