George B. Laffey, Jr, of Chathamport, MA and Vero Beach, Fl, died June 27, 2015.
Born January 19, 1931 in Paterson, NJ. George graduated from Colby College, ME.
George married the love of his life, Betty in 1953.
He is predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Winkler Laffey and son, Glenn Laffey.
George is survived by his son, Keith Laffey and wife, Lilla of Chatham, MA, a daughter, Donna Laffey of Wellford, SC, a daughter in law, Roberta Laffey of Harwich, MA, grandchildren, Tucker Laffey and Maegen Laffey of Harwich, MA, Seth Laffey of South Yarmouth, MA and Keith William Govoni of Wellford, SC.
George and Betty owned and operated Camp Avalon in Chathamport, MA for twenty years. A sailing camp with many activities for recreation for their campers. It was more than camp though, it was a group of campers learning to be their best selves under the loving direction of George and Betty. Following the operations of Camp Avalon they retired to Vero Beach. George organized the Laffey tennis group at the Moorings. He and Betty had many loving friends. George and Betty as a couple, were held in a position of great esteem by their loving family and friends, all those they loved, lived and played with throughout the years. They will be sadly missed.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family privately at home in Cape. Cod.
