Gerald Frank Cabage of Vero Beach, FL died Friday, March 21, 2008 at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.
Mr. Cabage was born May 19, 1930 in Bay City, MI and moved to Vero Beach in 1992 from Woodside, Queens, NY.
He played semi-pro football for the Bay City Michigan All Stars and then went on to play pro football for the Detroit Lions. He later played for the US Army Football team while serving in the US Army during the Korean War. Mr. Cabage was a financial manager for the Otis Elevator Company before his retirement. During his tenure he supervised many interesting projects including the renovation of The Statue of Liberty and the building of Trump Tower in New York City. He was an avid golfer and remained a consumate New York sports fan. He was of the Catholic Faith and a member of the Elks Lodge in New York and Vero Beach.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years Dolores E. Cabage of Vero Beach; daughters Donna Caruso of Pompano Beach, FL and Dawn Johanson of Larchmont, NY; brothers Russell Cabage of Berlin Heights, OH and William Cabage of Clermont, FL and four grandchildren..
Services: The family will receive friends 4-7 PM, Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at the Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach. A prayer service will be held 10 AM, Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home followed by interment with military honors at South Florida National Cemetery at 2:30 PM.
