Gerald M. Florence, a fine southern gentleman, passed away at home on April 24, 2016, he was 80.
Jerry was born on October 10, 1935 in Winston-Salem, NC and was brought up in Atlanta, GA. A member of the Atlanta Boys Choir, his love for music and the trumpet secured him a scholarship to Stetson University in Deland, FL. After graduation, Jerry had a short career in the radio then began his over 40 year career in insurance related fields. After many rewarding years at JM Family Enterprises, a Jim Moran Outstanding Company, Jerry retired as a Vice-President in 2002.
Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Belle; daughters, Carol Florence of Port St. Lucie, FL, Brenda Nadal of Ocala, FL, and Karen MacNamee of Snellville, GA; sons, Alfred (Gail Dolson) Nadal of Boynton Beach, FL and David Florence of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; grandchildren, Caitlin, Nicole and Stevie; sister, Carolyn Hopkins of Greenville, NC; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Funeral Services will be held privately held for family and close friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the Scully-Welsh Cancer Center, 1000 36th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
