Obituary: Gerald Wegner
Gerald Gerry Wegner, 87, died July 23, 2011 at his home in Vero Beach, FL. He was born in Kenosha, WI and lived in Lake Forest, IL where he met and married his wife Mary DHulst. They moved to Vero Beach in1980.
Gerry was a plumber with H.T. Stringer in Lake Forest, IL. He served with the VPB 117 Blue Raiders Squadron of the US Navy in the Pacific Theatre during WWII (1943-45). He was a member of the American Legion, Post 264 in Lake Forest, IL and was a past Commander of that Post.
Gerry was a past president of the Vero Beach Angler Club and a member of the Harbor Branch Associates. He was a member of the Treasure Coast Rock and Gem Society, serving as treasurer for ten years and teaching silver smith classes for twenty-five years. Gerry was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church.
Gerry is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary J. Wegner; son Gerald Sterling Wegner of Dublin, OH and grandchildren, Elizabeth A. Wegner and David A. Wegner of Dublin, OH.
Services: Gerry will be transferred to the Wenban Funeral Home in Lake Forest, IL where mass will be celebrated at St. Marys Catholic Church in Lake Forest followed by interment at St. Marys Cemetery.
