Gerold "Gerry" Knittel, 76, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at his home.
Gerry was born May 2, 1937 in Germany. He had been a resident of Fort Pierce for 10 years, coming from Merritt Island.
Prior to his retirement he worked as an engineer with NASA for 30 years.
Gerry attended Calvary Chapel Vero Beach. He was a member of the Veterans, ASPCA & the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Delores "Bubbee" Knittel; his four children, Martina Knittel, Christina Knittel, Michael Knittel and Monika Lindsay; four children by marriage, Debra Mercuri, Rhonda Martin, Candy Mercuri and Paul Loya; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and his brother, Ranier "Ronnie" Knittel from Germany.
He was preceded in death by his mom, dad and brother, "Gunter".
Gerry's service of remembrance will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2013 at the Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory in Vero Beach.
