Gertrude Eckstein, 88, died on March 10, 2017 after a prolonged illness. Trudy (as she was called) was born December 19, 1928 in Munich, Germany. She immigrated to the U.S. in October 1952, lived in Newark, NJ, then Union, NJ, moving to Fort Pierce in 1995.

Mrs. Eckstein was the retired owner of the Union Hofbrauhaus, along with her husband, Max, in Union, NJ. Max Eckstein preceded her in death on January 27, 2001.

Surviving Gertrude is brother, Fritz Wanner and wife, two nephews, two nieces, and their families, of Connecticut, a nephew, niece, and three great nieces of Oregon.

At her request, there will not be repose or visitation. No services are scheduled. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Eckstein has suggested that donations be made in her memory to the Genesis Church, 884 17th St, Vero Beach, FL. 32960
