Gertrude Knight Schrum died quietly on December 30, 2007 at Royal Palm Nursing Home in Vero Beach. Gertrude was a devoted, loving mother and grandmother with her family always being her number one priority.
Gertrude was born July 1, 1909 to Matthew Robert and Harriet (Cason) Knight in Live Oak Florida. She lived in Vero Beach since 1925 and was married to Cassel Schrum in 1930. Survivors include her son Calvin Schrum and wife Linda of Vero Beach. Survivors also include her grandchildren David (Laura) Cassidy, Ann (Jim) Kellum and John (Ann) Schrum of Vero Beach; Andrea (David) Mills of Palm Bay; Sharon (Mark) Babcock and April (James) Torella of Orlando.
Great-grandchildren include: Dane Cassidy, Lauren Cassidy, Brittney Sapienza, Heather Mills, Jessica Mills, Trevor Schrum, Dylan Schrum and Sabrina Torella; one great-great grandchild, Danelia Cassidy. She also leaves numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and a very dear friend, Jeanne Judware.
She was preceded in death by her husband Cassel Schrum, daughter Frances Cassidy and all of her 11 siblings.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church for 70 years and a member of the Keenagers Sunday School class.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Ray Scent officiating. Refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall immediately after the service. She will be laid to rest at the Winter Beach cemetery following the funeral services
