Gilbert "Gib" Arthur Murdock, 84, of Vero Beach, Florida passed away on July 20, 2014.
Gib was born in Ripley, Maine, on September 2, 1929.

Gib had an extensive military career, serving in both the Army and the Air Force. He served in the Army during the Korean War with the 88th MP Company as a Military Policeman. Gib also served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War as a member of an Intelligence unit and retired as a Master Sergeant. After his military career, Gib's dedication to the military was further evidenced by joining the public sector with Sanders Corporation, now known as Lockheed Martin, from which he retired in 1989.

Gib had many varied interests and activities. He was a pilot and enjoyed sharing his love of aviation with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Exchange Club of Vero Beach since 1992, and recipient of the club's "The Unsung Hero" Award in 1997. Gib was also a member of the Scottish Society and an active volunteer with the Indian River County Sheriff's Department. One of his greatest sources of pride was his membership in the Chosin Few. This group of men fought bravely at the Chosin Reservoir, Korea in brutal conditions. Gib will be most fondly remembered for his selfless giving to others. He was often the first to arrive, and last to leave association and civic club meetings. He lived a quiet yet powerful life, serving the needs of others, while never bragging about his own accomplishments. He was extremely proud of his duty to country, and respect for the American flag.

Gib is survived by his wife Winifred "Winnie" Murdock; children, Chris Murdock and Julie Murdock Dominguez and grandchildren, Davis Murdock, Camille Murdock, Ashleigh Dominguez, Christian Dominguez and Zachary Dominguez.

The family is holding a private memorial service, and asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer and Parkinson Association.
