Obituary

Gordon W. Heaton, 88, of Vero Beach, FL died Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at the Indian River Estates Medical Center in Vero Beach.
Mr. Heaton was born October 23, 1920 in New York City, NY and moved to Vero Beach in 1985 from Wheaton, IL.
He had been a Merchandising Manager for Sears Roebuck Co., retiring after 29 years, then becoming the President of Robert Hall Stores in New York City and President of VF Corporation in Pennsylvania before going on to own his own consulting business. Mr. Heaton was a graduate of Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT and a veteran of WW II, serving in the US Army Air Corp as a Major.
He was the President of National Menswear Association; National Fathers Day Council; and a Board member of Philadelphia College of Textiles. Mr. Heaton was a member of the Chicago Golf Club in Wheaton, IL which is the oldest 18 hole golf course in the U.S., the New York Athletic Club, and the Military Officers of America (MOOA).
Survivors include his wife of 66 years Anne Heaton of Vero Beach; sons Gordon D. Heaton of Wheaton, IL and Roger L. Heaton of San Diego, CA, daughter Laurie H. Ferry of Elburn, IL, one granddaughter and three grandsons.
He was predeceased by a son William Bradford Heaton.
Services: At the request of the family there will be no services.
