Grace Hamilton Straw of Silver Spring, Maryland and Vero Beach, Florida.

On Friday, November 25, 2011, Gracie traveled to the other side to be with her God, her parents, sisters and son. Unexpected yet peaceful and chuckling on the way out with her husband of 57 years. She spent her life in service, as a healer, teacher, volunteer, friend and mother to many. Grace celebrated 80 years of life in August surrounded by her family and lobster, just as she had wanted.

Born 1931, in Everett, MA she graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in Occupational Therapy. She practiced in Florida, Maryland and DC. After her retirement she continued to give her time to several community and service organizations. She was an avid gardener, quilter and crafter who loved to share her skills.

She was preceded in death by her son, Ashley Straw.

Survivors include her husband, James (Jim) Straw; daughter, Sharon Straw Thomas of Fairfax, VA; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.

A celebration of Grace's life will be held at 1:00PM on January 7, 2012 at the Inter-Faith Chapel located at 3680 South Leisure World Blvd. Silver Spring, MD 20906. The family would like to invite you for a time of fellowship and refreshment at the Chesapeake Room in Club House 1.
