Harry Maxwell Moore, Jr., 90, d ied October 19 th , at his home in Walker's Glen West, Vero Beach, FL
Max was born at home on December 23, 19 29 in Turtle Creek, PA , the son of Harry M. Moore, Sr. & Edith Russell Moore, and moved to Vero Beach in 1991 from Beaver Falls, PA . He prev iously resided in Essington, PA , Media, PA and Annandale, NJ . He spent 44 years in the steel industry , retiring in 1991 as Vice-President of Sales with Damascus Steel Castings Company, Ne w Brighton, PA . Much of his career was spent as a planning committee member which directed the making of large steel castings at General S teel Industries in Eddystone, PA . In 19 63, he moved to Annandale, NJ where he was Plant Superintendent at Taylor-Wharton. A move from manufacturing into sales in 1969 took Max an d his family to Beaver Falls, PA .
He received his education at Ridley Park High School and Drexel Institute o f Technology in Pennsylvania. After being Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Naval Reserves in March, 1951, h e enlisted in the U. S. Marin e Corps, where he served for three years. During that time, he completed Basic Training at Parris Island, S C and was appointed Private First Class, was appointed the rank of Sergeant at Camp Pe ndleton, CA and earned the title of Expert Rifleman on the Marine R ifle Team, graduated from Intelligen ce School as an Aerial Photo Interpreter in Fort Riley, KS , and served one year in Korea during the Korean War before being Honorably Discharged at Treasure Island, San Francisco, CA, in March, 1954.
He was a member of Christ-By-The- Sea United Methodist Church and the Walker's Gl en West Homeowners' Association and a former member of the Steel Founders ' Society, Beaver Valley Country Cl ub, and the Sandridge Golf Men's League .
Mr. Moore was a devoted and loving husband, father , and "Pop". H e is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elain e D. Moore of Vero Beach, FL ; Sons, Kevin Douglas Moore (Ruth) of Gainesville, FL ; Eric Keith Moore (Julie) of Sebring, FL ; Daughter, Pamela Ann Moore of Vero Beach, FL ; Grandchildren Carly Kayleen Vejraska (Cory) of Gainesville, FL ; Kyle Douglas Moore (Pam) of Gainesville , FL ; Sam antha Leigh Moore of Tampa, FL; Jerica Laine Moore of Johnson City, TN ; Great-Grandson s Cohen Maxw ell Vejraska of Gainesville, FL ; Greyson Douglas Moore of Gainesville, FL; Si ster, Edith Marion Wilkinson of Ridley Park , PA ; Nephews , Edward Csanady (Ruth) of Elizabethton, TN ; Robert Wilki nson (Addie) of Ridley Park, PA ; David Wilkinson (Cathleen) of Eldersburg, M D ; Carl Koellman of Bedford, TX; Sean Moore (Ashley) of Altamonte Springs, FL ; Ch ris Moore (Liz) of Palm Bay, FL.
Max was predeceased by his parents, Harry & Edith; brother, Russell Earl Moore (Janice); sister, Alfreda Pearl Csanady ( Ed) ; sister, Margaret Louise Koellman (Bill).
There wil l be no repose or visitation. Due to COVID-19, a Celebration of Life Memorial Service w ill be held at a later date at Christ-By-The-Sea United Methodist Church w here his ashes will be interred in The Memorial Garden. A reception will follow in the church's social room.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home, Vero Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VNA Hospice of Indian River County, 1110 35 th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960 or Christ-By-The-Sea United Methodist Church, 3755 Highway A1A, Vero Beach, FL 32963 in Max's memory.
