Hazel Boots (Moore) Jones, age 83, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at her home surrounded by family and friends. Hazel moved to Okeechobee from Vero Beach in 1964.
She loved gardening, canning, and quilting; but her greatest passion in life was people. She collected friends like some collect trinkets and attempting to name each one would inevitably leave one out. So, to all that loved her, please know that she held you dear to her heart.
She was preceded in death by a son, Eddie Moore, three brothers, and two sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas T.J. Jones and her children, Ervin Moore, Yvonne Moore-Colley, Lawana (Moore) Douglass, Darlene Moore, Ricky Moore, Patricia (Moore) Kosko, Rodney Moore, Naomi (Moore) Abraham and Nancy (Eiland) Hill, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A special thanks to Ricky and Ruby Moore for the care and attention they provided so she could remain at home during her final days.
In honoring Hazels request, there will be no visitation or funeral. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to Hospice of Okeechobee, P.O. Box 1548, Okeechobee, FL 34973.
A private ceremony will be held for family at a later date.
