Helen Vogel Chambers, 88 of Indiantown, died on November 10, 2010 at Parkway Health & Rehabilitation Center in Stuart, FL.
She was born May 25, 1922, in Cohoes, NY, the daughter of George and Albina Vogel. Helen attended Cohoes High School. She worked as a telephone operator in Troy, N.Y., General Electric in Schenectady, the State of New York, and Vogel Transportation. Helen lived for many years in East Greenbush, New York, and the last 21 years in Indiantown, Florida. A member of Melvin Roads Post Legion Auxiliary, for several years Helen led the program providing Christmas gifts for hospitalized veterans' families. Helen was an avid bowler, golfer and square dancer. Helen & Bill enjoyed traveling in their trailer and visited all 50 states and many Canadian provinces. Helen was a member of Family Worship Center in Indiantown.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Chambers; daughter, Carole Van Housen (Robert) of Warren, Ohio; 3 granddaughters, Kristin Augustine (Brian) of Bridgewater, Va., Kylie Praxl (Scott) of Warren, Ohio and Robyn Zampier (Jacob) of Trumbull, CT.; 6 great grandchildren, Rachel, Rebekah and Ruth Augustine, Madison and Avery Praxl, and Jonathan Zampier.
She was pre-deceased by her sisters, Evelyn Lajeunesse, Corinne Kuhar, Mary OBrien and brother, George Vogel.
A Memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM, Sunday, November 14, 2010 at the Family Worship Center, 15285 SW Indian Mound Drive, Indiantown, FL 34956.
