Herbert "Bull" Henderson, 86 of Vero Beach, passed away on November 27, 2015. He was born March 24, 1929 in Vero Beach and graduated from Vero Beach High School in 1947. In his senior year of high school, Herbert was team captain and wingback for Vero Beach's first undefeated state championship football team from 1946-1947. He received scholarship offers to Georgia Tech, Syracuse, Auburn and Miami playing a year for Miami. In track, his time of 9.9 seconds in the 100 yard dash was a district and state record. He was also team captain of the track team. Herb was President of the Letterman's Club and also voted most athletic along with Alma Lee Loy.

An electrician by trade, he worked for Barker Electric along with his friend Jack Barker. He finished his career with Indian River School Maintenance, retiring at age 62. He was a member of The First Baptist Church of Vero Beach for over 65 years, and a member of the Elks Lodge and Indian Chiefs.

Herb had a life long passion which he shared with his sons Mike and Mitch for Fighting Indians Football, attending games until he was 85. He was also a loyal Florida Gators Football fan and had a love for animals.

Survivors include his sons, Michael and Mitchell and his wife, Shirley, granddaughter, Jennifer great granddaughter, Alison great grandson, AJ and a brother Hiram, all of Vero Beach.

The family of Herbert Henderson invites friends of Herb and of his family for an informal time together to share memories of Herb and for fellowship. This time together will be at 11:00 am, on Saturday, January 9, 2016, in the Family Life Center of the First Baptist Church of Vero Beach.
