Hope Jacobs, a longtime resident of Vero Beach, Florida, and formerly of Port Jefferson Station, New York, passed away at her home on April 28, 2016 at the age of 93 years. She was happily married to George (Jake) Jacobs for 50 years.

Before relocating to Vero Beach in 1978, Hope was an active member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Port Jefferson Station, N.Y. After relocating to Vero Beach, Hope and her husband Jake became active members of Our Savior Lutheran Church, where she served in many capacities.

Hope was affectionately referred to as hat-lady Hope' because she always wore one of her many hats whenever she went out. She was deeply loved and appreciated by members of her family, her church and the community where she resided. She was often referred to as an elegant, classy lady, always with a kind word and understanding of all. An avid reader, she enjoyed her book club friends and for many years was a regular mahjong player.

She is preceded in death by her husband and her youngest son, Jonathan; her sister Joyce (Sexton) and her brothers Walter and Charles Elsebough.

Hope is survived by her son Byron Jacobs (Barbara) of Ladonia, Texas, her daughter Christina Collins, of Vero Beach, grandchildren Sarah Lepe (Juan) of Kansas City and Christopher Jacobs (Kairit) of Tallinn, Estonia. She is also survived by her brother Byron (Julia) Elsebough of Sebastian, two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 5, 2016 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Vero Beach.
