Irene W. Crandall, 84, of Vero Beach, FL died Monday, December 14, 2010 at Indian River Medical Center.
Mrs. Crandall was born May 8, 1926 in Bergen, Norway. Daughter of the late, Ivar and Martha Weloy. She grew up in Prospect, CT. She with her husband and her parents ran Ivars Store in Bethany, CT for over 20 years. She also worked for the State of Connecticut, at The Southbury Training School as a purchasing agent, before moving to Vero Beach in 1976. She worked for the Chamber of Commerce in Vero Beach, FL, up until her retirement. She was a very proud and active member of the Sons of Norway in CT and FL.
An accomplished Rosemaler Painter, she loved music, family, friends and travel, having made many trips to her beloved Norway.
She is survived by her loving fianc of 20 years, Ole Tvede, of Vero Beach, FL. Nieces and care givers, Linda Loring and Patricia Hermance of Wallingford, CT and Cynthia Thomas of Southington, CT and several nieces and nephews as well as in-laws in the Prospect, CT area. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Crandall; sisters Henny Hermance, Ruth W. Loring and brother Ralph Weloy, of CT.
A memorial service will be held in early spring, 2011.
