J. Hamlin Day, 84, of Vero Beach, FL died Sunday, October 26, 2008 at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.
Mr. Day was born August 28, 1924 in Honolulu, HI and first moved to Vero Beach 12 years ago from Mr. Kisco, NY before moving to Frederick, MD for two years and returning to Vero Beach four years ago.
He was a graduate of Reed College in Portland, OR, received his Masters Degree from Columbia University. Mr. Day began his career as a singer in New York City and later started his own Public Relation firm and continued to sing with community and church chorus throughout his life. Mr. Day was a member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church in Vero Beach, a Master Mason and member of New York Publicity Lodge, and a veteran of WW II, serving in the US Army,
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Virginia L. Day of Vero Beach; daughter Mary Ann Toomey of Bethesda, MD; son John Baxter Day of Bedford Hills, NY; sister Mary Wilson of Kauai, HI; five granddaughters and a great-grandson.
Services: A private family service will take place at St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church in Vero Beach at a later date.
