Jacqueline "Jackie" McCorkle, 75, of Vero Beach, died unexpectedly December 8 ^th .

She was born to the late Edward and Eleanor (Barnett) Gast on October 11, 1942 in New Rochelle, NY.  Jackie graduated from Hialeah High School.  She moved to Vero Beach from Jacksonville, FL in 1978.

She worked in the banking industry, for Indian River County BCC, and retired from the Sheriff's Department.  After retirement she worked part time for the Visiting Nurse Association.

In 1980 Jackie joined Beta Sigma Phi sorority where she held numerous offices including chapter president and City Council president.  She spearheaded service projects for Our Fathers Kitchen, Daisie Hope Center, and our military overseas to name a few.  She volunteered at the Military Store and at Daisie Hope Center.  Her generosity knew no bounds, and she has supported many not-for-profit organizations, listening to their needs and finding ways to provide.  She was a diminutive dynamo.

Jackie is survived by her son, Daniel McCorkle, of Ft. Pierce.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Seth McCorkle and Marion McCorkle; and three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Gracie, and Olivia. She is also survived by her brother, Ed Gast of Melbourne.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 6 ^th from 11 am – noon at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home with a service immediately following at the Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Daisie Hope Center.
