Obituary

James Dewey Bourn, 84, died on November 2, 2021 at home with his loving wife, step children, and grandchildren at his bedside. Jim was born in Huntington, West Virginia on February 19, 1938 to Carrie James Bourn and Dr. William Dewey Bourn.   He attended high school at the  Kentucky Military Institute and graduated with a bachelor's degree in business from Duke University (Class of 1962).  Jim served his country as a Captain in the United States Airforce from 1963-1969.
After his service, he moved to Fort Pierce, Florida to manage the family citrus business, the W.D Bourn's Packing Co. Inc.  In his latter years, he obtained a Masters Degree in Accounting from the Florida Institute of Technology.  Jim then worked for the State of Florida.
Jim was a passionate master furniture maker and a frustrated golfer. In his latter years, he enjoyed traveling to many National Parks with his wife Alberta, where they had adventures with friends and family hiking and canoeing. Jim was an inventive Christmas shopper, discovering things you never knew you needed!  Alway a kind and generous gentleman, he is loved and missed.
Jim is survived by his wife of 44 years Alberta Martin Bourn, his step daughter Christine Martin and her husband Marc Stolman of Healdsburg CA, stepsons Timothy Francis Martin of Vero Beach and  Britton Joseph Martin and his wife Debbie of Vero Beach, and grandchildren Britton Patrick and Audra and her husband Kyle Espich.   He is also survived by 3 great grand-grandchildren, nephew Charles Myers and nieces Linda Barnes and Elizabeth Holman.  He is predeceased by 2 sisters, Mrs.Renee Ryan and Mrs Sherry Ketchum.
A memorial Service will be held at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home, 11:00 am.Wednesday February 16, 2022 .
