James F. Carrow, Jr. 83 of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2015 with his family by his side. Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, he attended West Catholic High School and graduated from LaSalle University in Philadelphia. James enlisted in the US Navy and served his country in the Korean War on the USS Knapp.
James retired from teaching in the Philadelphia School District after 35 years. He spent many summers in Wildwood, NJ and traveled extensively. James enjoyed 20 happy years in Vero Beach after relocating here in 1995. James was a devoted husband and loving father. He was known for his quick witted humor and could always make you smile.
Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Mary (DeCourcey); daughters Mary Beth Carrow, Ellen (Robert) Hobson, Chrissy Carrow and Kathleen (Michael) Chalich; grandchildren Aaron, Sarah, James, Ryan, Jacqueline, Katie and Connor; great grandchildren Tatiana and Khalil; sister Betty Norcross. Preceded in death by father James F. Carrow Sr., mother Elizabeth (Lewis) and brother William.
A Visitation will be held at 9 AM at St John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach on Monday, December 28, 2015 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. Internment and Military Honors will follow at 1:45 PM at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth.
