James Davis Chappell, 73, passed away at the VNA Hospice House on April 17, 2020.  He was born in Miami, FL to the late Carmel Jerome and Jesse (Burch) Chappell. After spending his childhood in Miami, Jim joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 where he served for four years. Enjoying two careers, first as a meat cutter, and after attending Indian River Community College, Jim became a nurse. A resident of Vero Beach for over 30 years, he enjoyed bicycling and playing pool when he was younger.  An avid tennis and golf enthusiast, Jim enjoyed watching the tournaments on TV.  Predeceased by his brother, Michael Chappell, and his sisters, Brenda Chappell and Pamela Chappell Rice, Jim is survived by his former wife, Sherry Chappell, and his current partner, Susan Fortino.  Jim will be greatly missed.
