OBIT: JAMES MITCHELL CRANE
MARCH 8,1921 - MARCH 5, 2009
Born in Baguio, Philippines, James Crane was the son of Major James Mitchell Crane, USA and Ann Keith Crane. He attended St. Albans School in Washington, D.C, Kent School in Connecticut and graduated from Yale University in 1944. He served with great pride in the U.S. Marine Corp in Saipan and Tinian. He was part of the first troops to enter Nagasaki, Japan after the drop of the Atom Bomb.
After a distinguished military career, Mr. Crane became the first trainee with Brown Brothers Harriman in New York City. Staying there for several years, Mr. Crane then moved to San Francisco joining the Crocker Anglo Bank and later retired from his banking career with Security Pacific National Bank as Vice President of Corporate Loans. Mr. Crane later joined Russell Reynolds Assoc. as an executive Recruiter specializing in the financial industry. While in San Francisco, Mr. Crane was a member of the Guardsmen, St. Francis Yacht Club and the Bohemian Club.
In 1986, Mr. Crane and his wife, Jean Crane moved to Vero Beach where they became members of the Johns Island Club. Mr. Crane volunteered his time as a mentor for Big Brothers and was a member and past president of the Yale Club of the Treasure Coast.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Coulter Crane, daughters Diana Citret of Ketchum, Idaho, Pamela Crane of Haley, Idaho; step daughters, Lulie Arnold of Vero Beach, Reid Izaguiere of New York; step son, Rafe Peters of San Francisco and eight grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held at Johns Island Cemetery.
