Obit: James A. Caughey (AKA Jimmy Decker)
James A. "Jimmy Decker" Caughey, passed away at home with his family under the care of VNA/Hospice September 27, 2011. He lived in Vero Beach, FL as well as Merrifield-Brainered, MN. He had a full, wonderful life working in the oilfields, carpentry, owning Jim's Tree Service and later was well known for Jimmy Decker Arts. He was a member of the Vero Beach Eagles, Moose Lodge and only the second honorary member since the 1940's of the Booze Fighters Motorcycle Club Chapter 86 of Vero Beach. He was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include his mother Carol Decker of Vero Beach, FL; father Howard Caughey of Merrifield, MN; daughters Leah Caughey of Brainered, MN, Kristin Caughey of North Miami, FL; sons James Caughey and Cody Caughey of Brainered, MN; mother of his children and friend Loreen Caughey of Merrifield, MN; brother Michael Decker of Wabasso, FL; sisters Lisa Decker of Marlborough, MA, Brenda Decker of Vero Beach, FL, Trisha Mayer of Winter Beach, FL and Phyllis Coleman of Vero Beach, FL. He was preceded in death by a brother Gene Decker.
The family will receive friends 3-5 PM, Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach with a time for personal reflections and eulogy at 4 PM. There will be a Celebration of Life at the Moose Lodge in Vero Beach following the visitation after 5 PM. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Brainered, MN next week.
