James Michael Stemble, 75 of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 6th, 2023.
Jim was born April 13, 1948, to Muriel M. and Donald T. Stemble.
Jim was a 1967 graduate of Lancaster High School. Soon after graduation in 1968, he was drafted into the US Army, where he served two years at Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
Jim returned to Ohio in 1970. His passion for golf started at six years of age while growing up at Lancaster Country Club, where his father was the Golf Pro. He continued his golf at Worthington Hills County Club, Worthington, Ohio, as the Assistant Golf Pro. For the following years he participated in many tournaments in the U.S, and was involved with many golf courses for extended years in the capacity of Assistant Golf Pro, Golf Pro and/or Golf Course Supervisor including;
Pleasant Valley Golf Course, Lancaster OH, Pickaway Country Club Circleville OH where he taught golf to many young children, including his own; Hocking Hills Country Club Logan OH, and Foxfire Golf Club, Ashville OH, where he enjoyed playing golf with good friends.
He was the Player of the Year, Central Ohio PGA 1979 through 1983.
Upon retirement, he moved to Vero Beach, Florida, where he continued playing, working, and encouraging young and old to play their best golf: Aquarina Country Club, Melbourne FL, Island Dunes Country Club Jensen Beach FL, Vista Plantation Golf Course Vero Beach FL and, Sandridge Golf Course Vero Beach FL where he played with good friends as much as possible.
Jim lived his life doing what he loved most, golf, and loved to help anyone with their game. He is a proud Lifetime member of the PGA. He was happy with a hole-in-one a total of 37 times He fought cancer with all his strength and heart.
Friends knew he loved old rock music, The Ohio State University Buckeyes Football, and sunrise at the beach.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Janice Lloyd Fitzpatrick, whom he has know since high school; his children Alyson (Michael Curry) of Vero Beach, Florida; and Philip Stemble of Lancaster, Ohio.
He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Austin Stemble, Columbus, Ohio; Bayleigh Gibson, Vero Beach, Florida; Korbyn and Cabot Newman, Lancaster, Ohio; Karsten and Lleyton Stemble, Lancaster, Ohio. He loved his daughter and son and all his grandchildren immensely. Jim is also survived by friend and the mother of his children Deborah Dowell Stemble. Jim was loved and respected by many friends, near and far. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister Charlotte 'Chardie' Stemble Simpson.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
