Obituary

Jane Ann Whitfield Allison, a resident of Mission for thirty years, entered into her eternal rest on Saturday, January 28, 2017, at the age of 85. She was born in Park Ridge, Illinois, to the late Dorothy and Bud Whitfield. Jane spent her childhood in the Chicago area, but decided to express her independence by leaving for college with a trunk full of belongings on a train headed to Florida.

A few years passed, and Jane graduated from Florida Southern College in Lakeland. While in college, she met Robert Bryan Allison, and the two were later married in 1955. Robbie and Jane made Vero Beach their home, and Vero is where they raised their five children. They were very active in the local community where she was never shy about speaking her mind and sharing her opinions.

Baseball and Christmas were two of Jane's favorite things; however, children were Jane's passion and delight! She spent many years teaching elementary school in Miami and Mission at Agape Christian School. She also worked as a nurse's assistant for a pediatrician in Vero Beach.

She doted on each and every one of her seven grandchildren, giving unconditional love, kindness, patience, humor, comfort, and life lessons. She was their greatest cheerleader who will be greatly missed.

Services will be held at Cox, Gifford, Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach, Florida, at noon on Saturday February 4.

In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Allison, her older brother, Jim Whitfield, and younger sister, Sue Nelson. She is survived by her children Jill Allison, Robin and Bill Sobbe, Jay Allison, Rene and Kevin Sparks, and Rusty Allison. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren Jon, Katie, Morgan, Erik, and Jake Sobbe and Mackenzie, Matthew, and Madison Sparks. She is also survived by one great grandchild, Kenzie Jo Sobbe.
