M Jane Long

VERO BEACH - M Jane Long, 92, of Vero Beach, passed away on Sunday March 15, 2020. Jane was born March 18, 1927 in Merritt Island, Florida to the late Benjamin Hill Abbott and Nona Juanita Abbott.

Janie to Vero Beach in 1942 and operated Long Trucking Company with her husband Paul A Long Sr.

Janie loved to travel and combined her interest in antiques to her adventurous outdoor spirit. From camping and canoeing in Florida, to tubing in Texas, and hiking in California, she enjoyed spending time outdoors with her children and grandchildren, as well as her weekly luncheons with close relatives. Jane was the beloved matriarch of her family and will be greatly missed.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband Paul A Long, Sr; son Paul A Long Jr; brothers C. D. (Johnny) King; Robert and George Abbott; and sister Bonnie Vida Rogers. She is survived by her daughters Anita (Sheldon) Wynne, Gail Long (Michael Sheets), and Candyce Long all of Vero Beach. Grandchildren Amy (Kevin) Mausert of Chicago, Il; Travis Long-Jones of St Thomas, US Virgin Islands; great grandchildren Ansley and Nathan Mausert; surrogate son Robert Dean Jones; and nieces Dorothy Jean Rivera and Dana Cortez.  The family would like to thank Elise, Crystal and the staff of VNA Hospice of Vero Beach for their excellent care of Jane at the end of her life.
