Janet L.Brittingham, 86, of Vero Beach, died August 21, 2011 at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.

She was born March 20, 1925 in Bridgeport, CT. She had been a resident of Vero Beach since 1986, coming from Brookfield Center, CT.

She was a member of Saint Helen Catholic Church.

Prior to her retirement she worked for the Brookfield School System for 13 years.

She is survived by her sons, Douglas Brittingham Jr. of New Milford, CT, Scott Brittingham of New Milford, CT, Peter Brittingham, East Canaan, CT, and James Brittingham of Plymouth, CT; daughter, Kathy Adams of Dunedin, FL; brother, William Lamond of Gilford, CT; sister, Marguerite L. Van Wagner of Vero Beach, FL; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Douglas.

Services: A funeral mass will be held at 12:00 PM on October 15, 2011 at Saint Helen Catholic Church.
