IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Janice P.
Roberts
February 1, 1933 – June 26, 2024
Janice Roberts went home to be with our Lord on June 26, 2024. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister, cousin and friend. She was, to every person she met, a lighted path to Jesus Christ. If you were known by her, you most probably were prayed for by her. We are at peace knowing that she was ready to leave her earthly body and join our many loved ones already in heaven.
She was born in Dalton, GA on February 1, 1933, to the late Roy and Margaret Willoughby. After graduating from high school, she was accepted into nursing school, but before she started, she met William Roberts (Bill) and was married on September 17, 1951and moved to his hometown of Key West. They were married for over 50 years until his passing in 2001. Many of those years were lived in Key West, where they raised six children, before moving to Kissimmee in1999. For the past five years, Janice lived with her son George and daughter-in-law, Jackie, in Vero Beach.
Janice spent her working career as a civil servant for the United States Navy. She was promoted many times throughout her tenure and retired from her position managing the Supply Department at The Naval Air Station Boca Chica.
She had a servant's heart and served in many ministries over the years. In Key West, she was a member of Fifth Street Baptist Church where she was actively involved in children's ministries where she taught Sunday School and missions (GA's, RA's, Vacation Bible School). She also taught a special needs Sunday School class for members of the adult men's home (MARC House) for those with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
When she moved to Kissimmee, she joined South Orlando Baptist Church working in the nursery, Children's Church and VBS. In 2008 she moved her membership to First Baptist Church of Kissimmee to be closer to her home. Again, her love of missions, lead her to be active with the Children's ministries including reading to local elementary school children and serving weekly in the Osceola Homeless Shelter.
Her love and devotion to her family will be forever remembered by all of us blessed to have her in our lives. She was a prayer warrior and so many were the benefactor of her loving care and continuous and earnest prayer. She ended many a conversation with "God bless you today", and that is exactly what she was to us, a blessing.
Janice was preceded in death by her husband, William Roberts Sr; her sons, William Roberts Jr and Joseph Roberts; her daughter, Patricia Carvajal; her grandson, Juan Carlos Carvajal and her sister, Jeanette Harper.
Janice is survived by three of her children George (Jackie) Roberts of Vero Beach; Peggy (Carl) Sousa of Orlando; and John Roberts of Kissimmee. She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be held at First Baptist Church Kissimmee on August 10, 2024 at 11am in the Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to one of the children's ministries supported by First Baptist Church Kissimmee (fbckissimmee.com) or MARC House of Key West (marchouse.org).
