Jean Virginia Barkey, 88, of Vero Beach, FL died Sunday, January 15, 2012 in the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.

Mrs. Barkey was born November 17, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Vero Beach in 1986 from Virginia Beach, VA.

She had been a supervisor for the Virginia Beach Public Library, retiring after 16 years of service. Mrs. Barkey was of the Catholic Faith.

Survivors include her three sons John Barkey of Virginia Beach, VA, William T. Barkey, Jr. of Fort Pierce, FL and Anthony J. Barkey of Virginia Beach; a daughter Patricia Barkey of Fort Lauderdale, FL; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband William T. Barkey, and three brothers Bill Fey, John Fey and James Uster.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Service Council of Indian River County, 1900 27th Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

Services: The family will receive friends 4-7 PM, Thursday, January 19, 2012 at the Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach. A prayer service to celebrate her life will begin at 10:30 AM, Friday, January 20, 2012 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
